At the 2011 Anime Crossroads, I was disappointed in the gaming room, due to a lack of Super Smash Bros. and, really, a lack of much video game variety at all. It seemed that the choices were very limited. I remember seeing Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, some computer games, and an original NES that didn't actually work. I wished that I could've had the opportunity to play more games.
Regarding Super Smash Bros., I didn't care if it was tournament play or free play, but I definitely wished that I could've played the game in some way. It would've been nice if the gaming room had had a Wii or two set up with Brawl and Melee, if even just to play for fun. One of my favorite things to do at conventions is to meet and play with other Smashers who are good at the game (my hometown is a little lacking in that respect), so I was sad to see that Anime Crossroads did not offer any Smash at all.
So, my suggestion for next year is to improve on the general gaming room. Even if Smash Bros. is unavailable for some reason, a greater variety of games would be appreciated.
Until next time,
