Anime Crossroads 2021 COVID-19 Action Plan

At Anime Crossroads, we put the health and safety of our attendees first. Part of the reason we delayed announcing our dates was because we wanted to get this plan as close to finalized as we can. Below are some changes that we will be making for our 2021 convention.

Please note that these are subject to change at any time due to CDC or government regulations.

Changes for attendees:

  • $5 increase in badge prices
    • The attendees will be given a reusable face mask and personal bottle of hand sanitizer
      • In the event we run out of reusable masks, we will provide disposable ones. All pre-registered attendees are guaranteed a reusable mask.
    • This will also allow the staff to purchase a surplus wipes and gloves for the cleaning of the convention space
  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19 within 2 weeks of the convention, please do not attend
  • Maintain as close to 6ft of space as you can when possible
  • Half capacity in all rooms, including main events and the vendor’s hall.
  • Attendees will not touch convention room doors or equipment
    • An exception is being explored for the video game room. More information will be provided as we finalize plans
  • Daily Temperature checks will be implemented each day of the convention. You will get either a stamp on your hand or a wrist band to indicate you have had your temperature checked by a staff member. We will be using a no-contact thermometer to implement this
    • In the event your temperature is high due to overheating (because you are in cosplay or just ran down to the convention floor, for example), we will take you to a “cool down room” and check your temperature again in 10 minutes
    • In the event you are running a fever or feeling ill, we ask that you leave the convention floor
    • Staff will be included in this as well
    • At no point in time will Anime Crossroads retain or record your temperature; we will also not verbally say what your temperature is in a public area
    • The CDC defines a fever as 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Face masks are mandatory
    • A cloth facemask is suggested by the CDC. Cloth facemasks help prevent the spread of the virus by limiting the “respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice (e.g., while shouting, chanting, or singing).” The CDC Recommends the following for all face coverings:
      • fits snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
      • completely covers the nose and mouth
      • is secured with ties or ear loops
      • includes multiple layers of fabric
      • allows for breathing without restriction
      • can be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
    • Anime Crossroads reserves the right to deny entry if an individual is wearing a mask that does not meet all the CDC guidelines.
    • Anti-face masks are prohibited. Lace, mesh, or other material that does not completely cover your nose and mouth are not valid face masks. You will be asked to leave or use the face mask we have provided for you.
    • Kandi facemasks will not be permitted as they do not include fabric to prevent the spread.
    • In the event that you fall under any of the categories listed under this CDC page(https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-guidance.html), please email registration@animecrossroads.com
  • Staff will be given face masks and hand sanitizer, just like the attendees. Boxes of gloves and refillable hand sanitizer will be available in convention operations; please note that this is something that we will have a limited supply of, and we can only give refills or gloves upon requests, one set per attendee per day
  • Handouts from attendees during panels are not permitted; please use a virtual form
    • All handouts provided to attendees from staff will be fresh from the printer or a box and will be distributed with gloves or left on a table.
  • The vendor’s hall will have direction markers on the aisle, and we will be limiting the amount of attendees in the room at a time.
  • There will be a mandatory 10-15 minute gap between all events so we can sanitize the room afterwards.
